Ukrainian Cultural Association
The Ukrainian cultural association “RIDNA DOMIVKA” connects Ukrainians living in Graz and Styria and strives for each other to be there for each other.
The association implements a diverse range of activities and sees itself as a link between Ukrainian and Austrian culture. The association “RIDNA DOMIVKA” regards teaching the Ukrainian language to bilingual children in Graz, promoting Ukrainian culture and expanding bilateral relations between Ukraine and Austria in the areas of culture, art and education as its most important goals and tasks. The association wants to introduce Ukrainian art & culture, customs & traditions to all residents of Graz. Since Russia's invasive war against Ukraine, there has also been increasing work with refugees.
The term “RIDNA DOMIVKA” is very difficult to translate into German, as there is no adequate term for both words. You could literally translate “RIDNA DOMIVKA” as “Sweet Home” or “The Born Home”: The parents' home we come from and the home we come from, i.e. “a home.” It is no coincidence that this name is used to refer to a cultural association, as these two words “RIDNA DOMIVKA” (in Cyrillic “RIDNA DOMIVKA”) embed the peculiarity of Ukraine's cultural identity and the uniqueness of the Ukrainian language.
