One of the most important goals of the Alevi Cultural Association Graz is to make your faith better known. In doing so, the life philosophy, cultural identity and religious values of the Alevis living in Austria should also be preserved.
“Alevis are recognized as a religious community all over Europe, except in Austria,” says Jamnigg. According to Günter Jamnigg, the non-Islamic Alevis are completely wrongly lumped together with the Islamic Alevis and Islam. The name “Kulturverein” is also misleading, because the Alevis do not want to be an association, but a recognized religious community. Although the Islamic-Alevi Faith Community (ALEVI) was recognized as a religious community back in 2013, the Alevis do not want anything to do with it.
